For this project I explored the global crisis of modern war and the effect it has on people. I focused specifically on the trauma that a refugee goes through as they are forced to make the journey across treacherous waters to an unfamiliar land.

I was hugely inspired by famous artist Ai Wei Wei - his conceptual art portrays a huge message, hidden behind his simplistic, modern structures.

Ai's 'The Law Of The journey' was used as a source for my box. The centerpiece, being the clay boat is an abstract copy of TLOTJ. In reality, his piece is a giant 60 x 6m long dinghie made with the same material as a real refugee boat.
